There isn’t much to report on the vineyard right now, staff is eagerly waiting for the spring season so they can get outside and prune!

    In the Winery

This month has been a great transition from 2018 into 2019. January and February are typically our slower times at the winery, which gives us time to get caught up behind the scenes. Currently we are working on getting a new batch of Estate Blanc ready for bottling. In the meantime, we will be bottling our Whitewater Rush and Richmond Rouge next month! Speaking of next month…

We have a few events going on at the winery in February. On the 9th we have a Valentine’s Day Themed Sip and Paint crafting event. Bring your love, your best friend, your mom, or your sibling! $60 a “couple” or $30 per person. You don’t have to come with someone to paint. We will be offering this to anyone! Check out our Facebook page to find out how to RSVP. The following day, February 10th, we will be hosting our annual Valentine’s Day Inspired Wine & Dine. For $50 a person (plus tax), you will experience a five-course meal made by Tyler from The Black Sheep, and we will pair each course with our wine! Call to RSVP!

    Ice Wine, revealed

    Ice Wine, revealed

Ice wine is one of the most prized but mysterious wines made in our unique Wisconsin viticulture climate. We all know that ice wine is rare and more expensive than most wines but why is this?  How is it made? And why is it called Ice Wine? First, ice wine is made from frozen grapes. More specifically, grapes left hanging on the vine until they are naturally froze during winter (legally, only naturally frozen grapes can be called ice wine). Ice Wine Harvest 2015, a quick pose, then get back to harvest! Grapes need to get very cold to freeze,...

    Easter Dusting

    Easter Dusting

Last weekend we hosted an adult Easter Egg hunt or should I say Dusting. Wendy and Kaitlyn did the hiding for the Easter Bunny (who was too busy hiding eggs for the kiddos). They hid a total of 72 eggs in the tasting, sun room and gazebo, all these eggs were hid indoors. Each plastic egg was filled with one chocolate and a special prize; 10% off, 20% off, free glass of wine, free wine flights, wine picnic platters, and private wine tastings. Our Grand prize was a private wine tasting for 20 people ($300 value). I entered the winery...

    Reserve Selections

    Reserve Selections

Over the years we have had great compliments from all of you about how much you love our wines and happy that we use Wisconsin and northern cold hardy grapes to make our wines. We have also had requests to expand our product offering to grapes grown in other regions.

    Holiday Spice Wine

Sunday November 10th we hosted another Wine & Dine pairing dinner at Staller Estate Winery. This Wine Dinner had a Thanksgiving theme to begin to give our quests ideas for the coming gatherings of family and friends.

    Harvest Season cont.

    Harvest Season cont.

The harvest season is slowly beginning to slow down. So far this year we have processed more than 30,000 pounds of grapes and we still have more yet to do. This year many of our red grapes ripened at the same time which made it a little hectic scheduling the grape crusher destemmer and the press.

    Harvest Season

    Harvest Season

It has been about three weeks since we have had a chance to add to this blog 🙁    However there is a 🙂 that will follow as we are in the middle of harvest and happy to do it. As I write this blog tonight, looking down at my purple hands, I am very excited about the next vintage. This year was a mixed bag of weather, but the ripening season has been very good and we are harvesting a good vintage. We are done with our La Crescent and are very excited how it has turned out, during...

    The Next Vintage cont.

We are fast approaching the end of another great summer. At Staller Estate Winery, this is a very exciting time as we will begin to harvest the hard work that we have put into the vineyard all summer. It is a time that we can look back and appreciate the blood, sweat and tears that tending the vineyard requires.
