Painting the Vineyard

This last weekend was been a very busy weekend, we have had lots of excitement at Staller Estate Winery. We welcomed two very exciting guests to the winery, The Turtle Creek Chamber Orchestra and Renee Bebeau our featured artist, the orchestra played lovely music as Renee brushed her canvas to the sound of the music. This was an amazing experience for the many guests that visited. Specifically, we had a couple join us from Lake Geneva, they were celebrating their wedding anniversary. I had a nice conversation with this couple as they sat on our leather couch in a private nook at the far end of the sun-room, they had a great vantage point while they each enjoyed their wine flights, close enough to appreciate Renee’s masterful brush strokes while being serenaded my the orchestra. I recognized the couple as I thought that we had them in earlier this year and they informed me that they were in Lake Geneva and my recognition of them was correct. They had discovered us three years ago and have come back whenever they are in Lake Geneva. They thanked us for the additions we made over the years and are always excited to come back to see what we have that is new to experience at Staller Estate. We feel this is an important element to preserve in a winery, just like every vintage is new and exciting!
This day was even a new experience for me, we had never coupled an artist with music. I was amazed at the synergy of the two art forms, I have never experienced art like this before. As I talked to Renee with orchestra in the background, I noticed that she was holding the brush like the bow of a violin, I asked why she always holds the brush like this. She said, no, but it just felt right with the music in the background. We talked at length about her technique, the lighting, colors, moods and how each of these aspects are in flux, as is the painting during the process. I found that paint is very much like wine making, we both let the object show us how it is best displayed. Fascinating!! Please feel free to watch our interview with the artist Renee Beau. Or stop out and see them all LIVE!!
